Best Answer

you need a compression gauge

1 clean the aera aroud the spark plugs to make sure no dirt will get into the engine. Compressed air or some type of brush.

2remove all the plugs

3block throttle wide open

4detach coil wire and disable fuel pump

5install compression gauge in spark plug hole

6crank the engine at least 7 strokes and watch gauge

low reading with gradually increasing readings indicate worn piston rings

all low readings tell you that the head gasket is blown or leaking valves or a cracked head

really low reading needs a leak down test done by a shop to tell you where the real prob lies.
