you need a compression gauge
1 clean the aera aroud the spark plugs to make sure no dirt will get into the engine. Compressed air or some type of brush.
2remove all the plugs
3block throttle wide open
4detach coil wire and disable fuel pump
5install compression gauge in spark plug hole
6crank the engine at least 7 strokes and watch gauge
low reading with gradually increasing readings indicate worn piston rings
all low readings tell you that the head gasket is blown or leaking valves or a cracked head
really low reading needs a leak down test done by a shop to tell you where the real prob lies.
