With car running, and at operating temperature, place gear selector in park and car on a level surface. The dipstick is usually marked TRANS or if it not marked as such ,it will closest to transmission. Pull stick and add DEXTRON III fluid a little at a time using a transmission funnel. It is easy to overfill them so be careful. I hope this helps you. Mark There is no dipstick on a 2002 Grand Am. You'll need to find a small plug on the passenger side of the transmission - look slightly behind the oil pan. Should need 11mm socket to take it out (it's obviously a plug - it doesn't look like it's holding anything together) If no fluid comes out, it's low. To add, you'll need to take off the airbox and find the red cap that either says 'trans fluid' or just has a picture of a gear.
There is no dipstick for the transmission. It has a check valve on the side of the pan.
It doesn't have one but they can check the transmission fluid at any place that does oil changes
Most newer automatic transmissions do not use a dipstick.
The transmission fluid on a 96 Pontiac Grand Am SE is put into the filler tube on the left side of the engine. It runs directly into the top of the transmission and also contains a dipstick to check fluid levels.
When changing fluids in a car, it is important to know the fluid capacity of the car. A 1999 Pontiac Grand AM holds about 5 quarts of transmission fluid.
DextronIII
Dexron III automatic Transmission fluid should be used in a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM. This can be picked up at almost any general store.
When changing the transmission fluid of a car it is important to know its fluid capacity. The 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix holds between 7 and 8 quarts of fluid.
To check the automatic transmission fluid on a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, first, warm up the engine and then place the vehicle in park with the engine running. Locate the transmission dipstick, usually found near the back of the engine, and pull it out to check the fluid level; it should be within the marked range. If the fluid is low, use a funnel to add the appropriate type of transmission fluid through the dipstick tube until it reaches the correct level. Always ensure the fluid is at the correct temperature when checking and filling.
dexron 3
I have a 1999 Grand am se and it dont have a dipstick but it do have a red transmission fluid top on the right side of the 3400 sign that could be unscrewed but it don't have anything on it to check the fluid but you could stick your finger in it to see if its anything in it
If your 1993 Pontiac Grand Am will not shift into part, the transmission is probably seized up. The first step is ensuring the transmission fluid is not too low.
