Very carefully. Follow the manufacturers directions. I am guessing you are cleaning calcium deposits on a DE filter. I would assume that you would dilute the acid with clean water (pouring the acid slowly into the water and not water into acid) and pour enough to cover all of the grids. Then soak over night.

To clean buildup in the cell of a chlorine generator, first, disconnect the power and plumbing to the cell. Then, create a diluted muriatic acid solution with a ratio of 1 part acid to 10 parts water. Carefully pour the solution into the cell and let it sit for a few minutes before gently scrubbing the buildup with a soft brush. Rinse the cell thoroughly with water before reconnecting it to the system.

Unplug the wires on the end and twist the end carefully until itis off.We were directed to make a solution in a bucket of muratic acid and water. We continue to swish and dunk the filter until all build-up has been eaten off by the muratic acid/water mixture. Then replace. Green lights should now both be on your salt system!
