What benefits does a propane heater have?

A propane heater uses propane as it's fuel source. Propane is very fuel efficient, with a 96% return. It is also a very stable fuel source that is unlikely to accidentally catch fire. Propane heaters are a cost effective method of heating a space.

Why is better to transport propane in liquids and not in gas?

When a gas is compressed to a liquid, it takes up a lot less space. This makes it easier to package in a container and cheaper to transport.

What primary fuel is used in the US for space and water heating?

Why is LPG gas dangerous?

I'm going to assume you mean Liquid Propane Gas (or LPG in the US) even though this question first started with PLG -- a very rare acronym here. First, LPG liquidizes because it's under pressure. Releasing that pressure with any degree of suddenness with superchill whatever it comes into contact with (see Boyle's Law), so freezing injuries can occur. Secondly propane gas is highly flamable, so there's a serious fire hazard. Sudden ignition in an inclosed space can result in an explosion as well. Thirdly, in a confined space, propane, which has a higher specific gravity than oxugen, can displace oxygen in a confined space, thus creating a hypoxia hazard. Fourth, any compressed gas presents a kinetic hazard in that the pressure differential between ambient and compressed gas can cause kinetic trauma.

Chemical formula for propane?

Propane ( C3H8 ) will burn completely when it combines with the oxygen (O2) in air to form carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). The equation looks like this: C3H8 + 5O2 ---> 3CO2 + 4H2O The heat generated in the exothermic reaction causes more and more propane to "break apart" and combine with oxygen in air to produce the end products carbon dioxide and water. This will continue until the concentration of propane in air falls below a "threshold" and not enough heat is generated to support the combustion of any remaining propane. There is enough oxygen in air in an open space to support the combustion of an extremely large volume of propane.

What makes the hissing sound when turning on the propane on your grill?

The propane is a volatile liquid that turns to gas (evaporates) at room temperature. There is always some gas in the space above the liquid level in the tank, and this pressure is released when you open the valve. The propane burns in its gaseous form, as does natural gas.
