The .wpl format is the default file format used for playlists that you save in Windows Media Player 9 Series and above. They cannot be converted to .mp3 format. In order to convert, you need the actual songs. Once you have the music or video use a program like AnyVideo Converter to get your .mp3 files you need.
It is a kind of format file in a computer wherein it stores music playlists. It is the proprietary format file that is used in Windows Media Player with version 9 to 12.
You need to download and install a video converter onto your computer. There are free video converters online. Google one and download it. Then convert the file to one that is compatible with Windows Movie Maker:.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, .wmv.aif, .aifc, .aiff, .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, .wma.bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, .wmf
I think wpl and m3u are data files not actually songs carrying data about tracks e.g. song name.
because different formats play of different machines for example a mp3 will work on almost Anything but a wml might not work on cd or mp3 players and only other computers and stuff like that and other file types like ogg only work for games
You may have a virus.... ---- Unlikely. .wpl files are Windows Playlist files. Open them up using Notepad, and see if the files contain readable text or gibberish. The text will look something like blahblah blah blah What looks like could have happened is Microsoft Media Player has reorganized your music library, and created playlist files for where your files were before.
XSPF, short for XML Shareable Playlist Format, uses XML tags to list the path of local audio files or URLs of online streaming media in a playlist, which is similar to M3U, M3U8 and WPL. XSPF itself doesn't contain any video or audio data. So there is no any third-party tool that can convert XSPF playlist into media formats. Since XSPF file is XML-based file, which is classified as text file, you can open it with text editors and find the location of the actual files. Just right click on the XSPF file and open it with Notepad or other text editing tools you have. Then you can see where the media files are physically located in the text. Then use a video converter like FFmpeg, or GUI-based Handbrake,Free HD Video Converter, Any Video Converter, etc. to convert your local media files listed in the XSPF file to MP3, MP4, etc.
