Some parents have a hard and steadfast rule on R-rated movies. For me, it depends on the movie whether or not I will let my children watch it. R ratings are so subjective. I have seen PG-13 movies that are way worse than some with an R rating.
If you want to present a good argument to your mom, I would first find the parent guide for the movie you want to see. There are parent guides for most moves on IMDB. You can also check Common Sense Media. They also have detailed parent guides. This way, your mom can read in detail about what is in the movie and why it received an R rating. That might make her more comfortable letting you see something if she knows exactly what is in it.
You can also see if your mom would be willing to see the movie first. Maybe she would be willing to view the movie herself to see if it's something she would be comfortable letting you watch.
Or you can ask if she would be willing to watch the movie with you. If you watch the movie together, then you can discuss afterward what was in the movie, and your mom can address any issues in the movie that she feels need further explanation.
No matter what, remember that your mom is the one that sets the rules. She's not doing it to be mean. She's doing it because she loves you and she's looking out for your best interests. If you present your arguments, and she still doesn't want you to see the movie, you need to respect that.
Try asking your mom if she would consider watching the R-rated movies that you want to see by herself so that she can decide if you are ready to watch them. If she does, then she could also answer any questions that you have or discuss any concerns she has about them.

Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead (1991) is rated PG-13 in the US. In the UK, the theater version is rated 12, and the DVD version is rated 15.
If there mom is nice, then they would let you watch it. If your mom is American then they would not let you watch it because maybe you are grounded. It seems like a good movie because i only watched 2 parts of it and it is really good!!! :) Hope your mom lets you watch it!!! 3>

The mother was grumpy that day so she didn't let her child watch television that day.OR...My mom and I love to watch television together, and eat popcorn.
You may need your mom to accompany you. Any adult over 17 is accepted in some theaters.
Unless your mom won't let you go on a date, just tell her that you like someone and that you would like to go somewhere with them. Perhaps the movies, just say "mom, would you please drive me to the movies? There is this guy i like, and he asked me if i could go see a movie with him." I !... good luck :)

You can go the mall, movies, or restaurants.
More importantly, is his mom supporting him to go out on a date with you? Is his mom not supporting your relationship? It depends on that. If she is supporting him, then you should just let her watch and hold hands. If she is not, then try to talk his mom out on why you guys should be dating and that you both really love each other.
