this is very simple. The tab uses a series of 4 parralel line (for a 4 string bass)- each ine representing a string. The bottom line is the E string, top line is the G string (A and D in the middle). You then place on the "string" line what fret which you need to press down on- so of you needed to play 4th fret on the E string you would write a 4 on the bottom line. This is then continued for the entire song- which can be quite time consuming but is a very simple way to write and memorize the songs.
Bass tabs are usually best created in Notepad, or a similar programme, using a font where every charactor takes the same amount of space.
Then you lay out four "string lines" and start filling in with numbers to represent frets.
