Can you describe a solar eclipse?

Any time the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth line up with the moon between the Sun and Earth there is a solar eclipse. (if the Earth is in the middle then you get a lunar eclipse.)

Note that because of the difference in the sizes of the objects, the location of a total solar eclipse is relatively small.
