It is actually very very simple. first of all you have just summarize 13 different alfabets and their meanings; I = 1 V = 5 X = 10 L = 50 C = 100 D = 500 M = 1000 _ = 1000 (USED TO DESCRIBE 1000) as how we generally use an alfabet "K" to represent 1000 or "mn" for a million or "bn" for billion. So If I have to say 1,000,000 I can write it as 1 mn or in roman way M (M= 1000 * _ = 1000 = 1,000,000) All alphabets representing small letters before a bigger letter in value (as written above) gets deducted.
