To download Garry's mod, you first need to download the Steam application, found at http://steampowered.com. You cannot download Garry's mod by itself, you need at least one other Source-Powered game to download along with it. I suggest Portal, its cheaper than other Source Powered games if the main reason you'r downloading it is to play Garry's Mod, and Portal is very entertaining. Garry's mod is about 10 dollars and Portal varys from 15 to 20 dollars. Because they run on Steams Secure Server, trying to get a free copy that runs right is near impossible.
