After warming the engine.
1. Disconnect the spark plug wire
2. Clean around the dipstick/oil tube before removing
3. Tilt the mower to where the air filter side is up
4. scrap away any grass, that maybe caked around the drain plug
5. position news paper or cardboard and the drain pan under the drain plug
6. loosen the drain plug with a socket or wrench
7. tilt the mower over the drain pan and let drain
8. Tilt it back up and reinstall drain plug
9. if it has a oil filter replace now
10. refill oil to the proper level and reconnect the spark plug.

The way to drain gasoline from a Briggs and Stratton lawn mower is to take the oil cap off and drain the oil. From there, run a rubber hose into the drain and siphon the rest of the oil and gas out.

Briggs and Stratton is a select brand of lawn mower. When oiling one's Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine, it is best to use a high quality oil. One can find such an oil at their local home improvement store, such as Home Depot.
Briggs and Stratton only recommend using their own brand of lawnmower oil. This oil is available in stores for around $6 for 18oz. This particular oil is designed to be compatible with air cooled engines.
SAE 10w30 full synthetic and change it once a year.
