How do you drift in gta 4?

1: Take off the traction control. To do this, go to a race and in the race menu select Machine Setting. By the Rom tab or Other, set the TCS and ASM to 0 [ zero ] 2: Drifting is caused by the cars weight suddenly changing direction [ gforce] accompanied with some oversteer [ spinning out the rear wheels ] With powerfull cars you could achieve a drift easily at lower revs by aggressively swirving on the road while only accelarating on when doing the turn [ swirve ] Gearing down and accelarating hard on sharp bends will result in drifting. Accelarator control + Lateral Gforce = [ Drift ]

If you are going at a reasonable speed, press X to engage to handbrake, turn towards wherever you would like to drift to, and steer in the other direction once the car begins to fishtail. This keeps control of the drift. R1 or X are the handbrake, unless you have changed your controller configuration.

When u come up to the turn hold your brake and cut the tires the direction of the turn then tap the hand brake and cut the tires the opposite way and u will drug of u have the gas down to hole time you doing it.

on the controller you can either hold or tap the square or L1 button or whatever the brakes are in the game doing a turn. make sure you are going pretty fast.
