1. Start turning (about 40mph
2. Pull on the handbrake 'til you start sliding
3. Countersteer and feather the gas
4. Follow through

practice is practice. i suggest trying this with a Nissan 240SX or a Mazda RX-8 before you go drifting in a BMW M3 or anything powerful as that. ^^

You can drift usin the "handbrake/e-brake" button.....

1. Accelarate (not much) then let go of the gas and press the handbrake button and left or right at the same time.

2. If u do it right, ur car should spin around 90 degrees and then hit the gas again......enjoy!

Countersteering ( added by NFSMWTD ) :

If you use a controller ( so anything to steer except for keybord ) then you can lightly countersteer after step 1 ( countersteer is steering in the opposit direction as Ur drifting to , so if you drift to the left you countersteer to right and likewise ) by countersteering you can make turns over 90 degrees . By countersteering more your drift will get less angle , if you countersteer too much the drift will end ( except if you then countersteer the countersteer so yo will drift into another direction , this is called chaindrift but I explained this too difficult ... ) . By countersteering less your drift will get more angle ( you can also get more angle by using the handbrake ) , but if you don't countersteer the drift will end soon ( not immediatly ) .

P.S. Countersteering is way harder with keybord because you can't countersteer lightly , only by tapping you can still countersteer , so if you use keybord I advice you to buy a controller . I also advice not to use speedbraker when you're drifting because it's quite noob .

Drifting works by turning sharply and countersteer to let the back wheels of the car lose traction slide and then the front wheels slide a bit, but not too much. It is hard to drift for you may countersteer or understeer to much. Then you accelerate and the car will straiten out. This requires lots of practice and is very DANGEROUS.
