Well, I would think that the best thing to do is pull him aside and talk to him, if ANYTHING if don't have enough patience to get within the friend zone with him, I'd work on getting to know him (although I would HIGHLY recommend going in the friend zone first) and seeing what his interests, likes etc. are, from there allow the relationship to advance little-by-little and see what happens from there.
