Gold is formed independently from rocks so unlike iron or copper there is no 'ore' to extract it from. In general gold is acquired by finding nuggets in rocks. The gold is simply chipped off from the rock.

It is extremly difficult if not impossible to extract the small traces of gold that can be found in many rocks and as far as i am aware no commercial technique for acccquiring such gold.

How do you extract gold?

Gold is typically extracted from ores using a combination of techniques such as crushing, grinding, and chemical processes like cyanidation. The ore is pulverized to release the gold particles, which are then leached using cyanide to dissolve the gold into a solution. This solution is then processed to recover the gold through techniques such as carbon adsorption or precipitation.

Which process uses cyanide to extract gold?

The process that uses cyanide to extract gold from ore is called cyanidation or the cyanide leaching process. It involves treating the ore with a weak cyanide solution, which dissolves the gold and forms a soluble complex. The gold is then recovered from the solution by various methods such as carbon adsorption, precipitation, or electro-winning.

What process uses cyanide to extract gold?

The process that uses cyanide to extract gold is called cyanidation. In this process, gold ore is crushed and mixed with a cyanide solution to leach out the gold. The gold is then recovered from the solution by chemical precipitation or activated carbon adsorption.

What is the difference between gold ore and gold nuggets?

Gold ore is a naturally occurring rock that contains gold in its elemental form, whereas gold nuggets are small pieces of pure gold that have been eroded from their original source and typically found in stream beds. Gold ore needs to be processed to extract the gold, while gold nuggets are already in their pure form and ready to be used.

How do they find gold?

Gold is typically found through a combination of exploration, mining, and processing. This can involve using geological surveys to identify potential locations, extracting ore from the ground using mining techniques, and then processing the ore to isolate the gold. Modern techniques include using chemical processes or specialized machinery to extract gold from the ore.

How do you translate 'ore' in English to Arabic?

Ore, a stone from which you can extract metals or other minerals, in Arabic is Khaam (خام). For example, Gold Ore = Khaam Dhahab (خام ذهب) and Iron Ore = Khaam Rassaas (خام رصاص)

How is ore (such as gold) mined and collected?

Ore mining involves drilling and blasting to break up the rock and extract the desired minerals. The ore is then transported to the surface for processing. Once processed, the gold is collected using various methods such as gravity separation or chemical leaching.

How much ore is needed to get one ounce of gold?

The amount of ore needed to extract one ounce of gold can vary depending on the concentration of gold in the ore. On average, it typically takes about 2.3 tons of ore to extract one ounce of gold. This ratio is known as the ore grade and is an important factor in determining the economic viability of gold mining operations.

What effect does mercury have on gold?

Mercury can form an amalgam with gold, which is a mixture of the two metals. This can make it easier to extract gold from ore, but it can also lead to environmental pollution if not properly managed.
