The AK47 runs on very simple components and is easy to field strip.
Firstly, you must check that the weapon is unloaded, do this by pushing the magazine release and removing the magazine.
Then, pull the charging handle to the rear and make sure there is no round in the chamber, then release the charging handle. The weapon's cleaning rod is located under the barrel, pull down on the front of the rod and then pull it away from the muzzle to release it.
The first step to stripping this weapon is to remove the receiver cover. There is a button at the back of the receiver above the stock, push and hold the button in. At the same time, pull on the receiver cover and it should lift free.
The next step is to remove the recoil spring. The spring is attached into a groove at the back of the rifle, push forward on the back of the spring to release it, then pull the spring to the rear, removing it from the bolt carrier.
To remove the bolt carrier and the gas piston, pull the charging handle all the way to the rear and it will lift free from two groves above the trigger mechanism.
Then you must remove the bolt from the bolt carrier. Do this by rotating the bolt anti-clockwise, whilst pushing it to the back of the carrier. When the bolt is at the back of the carrier, the extractor will fit into a channel on the inside of the carrier, then rotate the bolt anti-clockwise but this time pulling it away from the carrier and it will detach from the carrier, lubrication can then be applied on the bolt lugs if nessescary.
The last step is to remove the gas tube.
There is a small latch on the right of the gas tube in front of the charging handle, rotate this upwards and pull the gas tube upwards to release it.
This covers the basic field strip of the AK47.
Complete these actions in reverse order to re-assemble the weapon.
Once you have re-assembled the weapon, it is important to carry out a function test to make sure the mechanisms are working correctly.
Follow these steps for a basic function test:
1) Take the safety off, pull back on the charging handle and pull the trigger to make sure the trigger mechanism is working correctly.
2) Whilst holding the trigger down, pull back on the charging handle, release the trigger and then pull the trigger again to make sure it resets correctly.
3)The last step is to check the safety. Engage the safety and check that the trigger is locked in place.
After you've confirmed that everything is functioning correctly, place the weapon back on safety, and your good to go.
Get Raf Hussan to do it as he is a expert in this field as his cousin is Saddam Hussein
The AK 47 has more range and is more forgiving of battle field conditions.
