# How do you figure your GPA on a GED score?

In 1978-87 GED exams were scored similarly only they added a zero to this one. So if you scored the minimum back then 225 that = 2.25 GPA or in my case 226 = 2.26 ok but they are grading us on a curve so my question is on a scale of 20-80 or 200 - 400 for each of your 5 individual tests 50 or 500 is the median average which = 3.0? But yet if you score a 50 on all of the individual tests 50 × 5 = a score of 250 out of 400 which only = 2.5? Am I misunderstanding this? I know the higher the scores the lower the number of students obviously. I scored a 48 on Arts and Literature but I came in the 43rd Percentile so I'm wondering if I had scored 50 instead of 48 if I would have been in the 50th percentile or 49th? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. :)

Sorry they grade you on a curve so so in my day it was 20-80 today it is 200-800 with 50 and now 500 being the median average.

To convert your GED to a GPA, divide your total score by the number of sections on the test you took. Most students are tested on five sections of the GED. For example, if your total score was 2300 and you took five sections, your average GED score would be 460 (2300/5 = 460).

Then, divide your average by the highest possible score you can get on the GED (usually a score of 800) to find your percentage. For example, if your average was 460, your percentage would be 0.575 (460/800 = 0.575).

Your next step would be to times your percentage by the grading scale you wish to calculate your GPA (typically on a 4.0 scale). For example, if your percentage was 0.575, your GPA would be 2.3 (0.575*4 = 2.3).

GPA is sometimes converted into a letter grade. While determining your letter grade you should always go by the proximity of your GPA to the points that define the grade.

Grades Points A 4.00 A- 3.70 B+ 3.30 B 3.00 B- 2.70 C+ 2.30 C

2.00 C- 1.70 D+ 1.30 D 1.00 D- 0.70
