AnswerHamsters are called guinea pigs in Australia :-)Correction: Hamsters are most certainly not called Guinea Pigs in Australia! A Guinea Pig is a Guinea Pig, and a Hamster is a Hamster, just like everywhere else. There are Guinea Pigs in Australia, but unfortunately no Hamsters. Not only that but hamsters are a prohibited import in Australia. They are a desert species (at least, the popular Golden Hamster is) and it would be a bit of a disaster if they got loose and infested the arid zones. The rabbits were bad enough - rampaging hordes of feral hamsters is not a pretty thought. The same goes for Jerbils.
many kinds of hamsters are: Russian Albino( Albino hamsters can be any breed) Dwarf Robo But if you do some reasearch, you could find soooooooo many more breeds.
People tend to find that boy hamsters are more gentle and will let you pet them more. Although it is not a general rule, girl hamsters can also be extremely gentle. Just like boy hamsters have the ability to be mean.
Well, wild hamsters live in the desert. But, a domestic hamster would live in a basic cage which you'd find at your local pet shop or the internet.
It varies. You'd have to ask a PetSmart employee personally to find out.
No, hamsters naturally occur in various parts of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

by smell
You can find many at Petsmart along with other pets.
they might come from somewhere in the US or maybe somewhere like australia? i am not sure...
I believe hamsters are not available anywhere in Australia due to what happened when rabbits were introduced here! The powers that be are very nervous about the import of 'exotic' pets incase they escape into the wild, breed and harm our ecosystem. Which is a great shame as hamsters are totally cute & I'd also love to have one. If you can get one........ To be honest if you have had dwarf hamsters before then you shouldn't have too many problems with Russian hamsters. They tend to bite/nip more and are harder to tame. Don't get me wrong they are lovely hamsters but I wouldn't recommend them for children or people who haven't had dwarf hamsters
anything they can find
