There are some published serial number lists.
I am trying to find out the value of my Browning Acier Special C 12 guage Shotgun KG 8663 Serial number 307368
If your shotgun was made before 1968, it may not HAVE a serial number. Before that, US law did not require serial numbers on rifles and shotguns.
Without a serial number, the question can not be answered. Even then, you will have to find a book that has been published with serial number data.
You actually have the number 0 and then the letter R before your serial number. This indicates that you have a Browning auto-5 standard weight 16 gauge shotgun that was made in the year 1960.I hope that you find this informative.

THIS Glenfield MOD 50 BOLT ACTION SHOTGUN WAS MANUFACTURED 1966-1972. I HAVE ONE AND ALSO CANNOT LOCATE THE SERIAL NUMBER.

Depends upon what model 20 gauge it is. Look under the tang on breakdown type guns. On automatics is is on the receiver somewhere.
