But I was looking for older plat maps - like from the 1800's. Specifically, for Southern, IN, North Central Kentucky and the Northen part of SC.
A surveyor charges money to find the EXACT boundaries of your property. They leave markers at each corner, usually a 3/4" pipe with a brass cap on top with a number stamped into it. If you can find a corner marker, you can measure from there, using a plat map from your local assessor's office....these are free, a much better deal. But they only show the outline of your lot, and how many feet each line is. A surveyor's map, however, shows much more information, like easements for instance. If your property has been surveyed before, and you can find out who did it, the person who paid for it may be willing to give youa copy. Good luck with that.
