The # 1 plug on a 350 is the front plug drivers side. Turn the engine over by hand with all the plugs removed. When the # 1 piston reaches it highest point on the compression stroke, you are at TDC. A screwdriver inserted in the # 1 plug hole will show you when it reaches TDC. Warning!!! Only turn by hand and do not use the starter. You can tell if it is on the compression stroke by placing your thumb over the plug hole while turning over the engine. It will push against your thumb on the compression stroke.
