Sometimes you have to "import friends" from FB or Myspace. But if your friend is currently playing, click the buddy list on the right and hit join room or join live. If you are friends on FB or Myspace but haven't "buddy"-ed up yet, (or you have, but for some reason their name isn't on your list) then just arrange to meet at an event. That will put you both on the same server as the event so that you will each also be on the same server.
