Not very easy, but i will try my best.
With your replacement button you should have received a strange looking "tool" about 70mm long with a right angled hook on one end and hexagon shaped block on the other?
Remove both buttons from the housing by gently easing the catches (in slots down the side by inserting the point end of the tool, or something similar, being careful not to snap the catches on the button or loosing the springs when they are released.
You should now see an hexagonal shaped recess at the base of the housing? Now you know what the plastic tool is for.
From memory you then attach the button housing to the lid of the cistern and use the large nuts provided to secure.
Place the cistern lid into position (with button housing attached) and at the same time locate the cream plastic stem at the bottom of the housing onto the threaded stem sticking up from your Avon Rapide Syphon
Using the hexagon tool provided you can now screw the button housing to the syphon. Flush the toilet just to make sure all is working (before you re-insert the button) and adjust with the tool if necessary.
Now place one of the buttons in its position, with its spring, locating its catch in the slot followed by the second button using the point end of the tool to assist you.
If all went well you have now fixed your toilet. Unfortunately my wife has since thrown my special tool away and I will have to invent a method of getting into the cistern!
There will be a small rectangular button underneath your opening. Push it.
