if it is from before 1976, just pop the head back on. Later ones are harder, though. You can put the body in a freezer for a couple of hours, making it shrink. Then, Boil the head in water, making it grow. try to pop it on then. If that doesn't work of you don't want to go to so much trouble, just superglue it back on.

The dolls created in 1976 and before or easy--you can just pop the head back on the neck knob. However, dolls from 1977 and after are harder to fix, because the neck knob is bigger. You might try putting the body in the freezer for a few hours, because as it gets chilled it shrinks. At the same time, hold the head over a pan of boiling water, because this will make the vinyl expand. Sometimes this will enable you to replace the head.
You can fix it by popping it back on or appling glue to the head and stick it to the rest of the body or just replace it

Just like any other toy, dolls can get dirty and grungy-looking if they are not regularly cleaned and taken care of after it has been used. With today’s busy schedule, cleaning your children’s toys is a task that is often neglected. When you have some spare time, you can devote it to cleaning and restoring some if the toys that have been neglected for some time now. Here are some tips on how to restore a Barbie doll, so that your child can enjoy it for a few more years.

Step 1: Carefully look over the doll to determine which parts need to be replaced, fixed or simply cleaned.

Step 2: With the use of warm water and a mild cleanser, gently wash the doll’s body and wipe it dry with a soft cloth afterwards.

Step 3: For stubborn dirt that can’t be removed by the water and detergent solution, use a nail polish remover or alcohol to remove it. Make sure that the material of your doll will not be harmed by the strong chemicals in these cleaning agents.

Step 4: Shampoo the doll’s hair thoroughly, and condition it using lanolin. If the hair is extremely matted and tangled, you may soak it in fabric conditioner to soften it. Make sure that you rinse it thoroughly afterwards, and then proceed on styling it according to your (or your child’s) preference. You can curl the hair around plastic tubing or straws while it’s still wet; hold the hair in place while it dries to maintain the curls.

Step 5: Check the doll’s face to see if it needs to be repainted. If you are not very confident about doing this task, you might want to get the services of a professional, to avoid destroying the doll’s look.

Step 6: Check the doll’s limbs as well; if they need to be replaced, you can get them from old Barbies that are being sold. Some of these dolls are in poor condition, just make sure that the limbs you need are still intact.

Step 7: Wash the doll’s clothes to make them clean again; if there are stubborn stains, you can use a stain remover.

Step 8: Clean all of the Barbie’s accessories, and iron the clothes if they are already wrinkled. You can also buy new clothes and accessories to help improve the doll’s appearance, or make new ones if you have the time to do so.

Restoring a Barbie doll can be a therapeutic activity, as it can bring back good memories of when you were the one playing the dolls. They can also be a bonding moment with your child, a time to bridge the generation gap, so to speak.

How do you preserve an American girl doll?

1. Keep the original box and alter the collectible container. You can keep the original box in order to protect the Barbie doll from the elements however, you will need to alter the collectible Barbie container. This will prevent moisture from entering and causing mildew or mold. To do so, put some tiny holes in the container to allow the moisture to evaporate.2. Do not store the collectible Barbie doll in the garage, basement or attic. Although the original box will offer some protection, the temperatures in these places could wreak havoc on Barbie's delicate frame.3 Do not let the kids or pets play with any collectible Barbie doll. Instead offer them a play version instead. This will prevent Barbie from being seriously injured or mangled when left out to play which would tremendously destroy any resale value.4 Put Barbie face down. This prevent her eyes from rolling to the back of her head and possibly falling off which could harm her.5 Dust your Barbie collector doll regularly. This might be obvious but is paramount that you dust Barbie regularly. However do not wash her as this could drastically reduce her resale value.6 In conclusion, by following the above mentioned tips, you will properly care for Barbie and she will hopefully return the favor by giving you top dollars when you decide to part ways. Good luck and happy collecting.
