Remove the valve cover. Remove the center nut or bolt that holds down the rocker arm. remove rocker arm, pull out the bent push rod. Install new push rod and put it back together.
Sure can, Quick A bent push rod will cause a loose rocker A loose rocker has no way to bend a push rod, there is no pressure.
Replace push-rod
Pull the fuel pump off and remove the lower two bolts that hold the cover plate to the block. Slide out the push rod and figure out why it's stuck. If it's just a little sludge, you should be able to clean things up enough to get the push rod to move freely. Also, roll the push rod over a flat surface to make sure it's not bent.
Which ever one you think may be bent, Just take it out and roll it on a flat surface. If it is bent bad you will have a engine miss on that cylinder.
if i understand your question correctly you mean what damage can be caused by incorrect clearances. well a loud tapping followed by either a bent push rod or the push rod beating a hole in the rocker arm.thats if set too loose. if too tight rough erratic running or bent push rod. damaged lifters.
It will have to be replaced. Even bent back to shape with the fatigue would no longer be safe.
All bent steering components must be replaced, not repaired.End of story, injury and death will ocure if you repair these components!
Take off the rocker covers and see if any of the rockers are very loose.
A bent engine piston is a reference to the piston rod. The piston cannot be bent, but the piston rod can be bent.
If the heads don't have push rod guide plates, the rocker arms will set off center just a little. But if they are way off then you must have a bent push rod.
well it could bet a bent push rod or a lifter could be bad
The pushrods are underneath the valve covers. I assume this 3.4 is in a lumina or something similar (sp). When you remove the valve covers--- you will see 6 rocker arms. One end of the rocker rides on top of the valve-- has a spring on it--- the other end has the push rod in it-- it goes down into the engine. you have to loosen the nut in the center of the rocker to remove the push rod. Has someone told you it has a bent push rod? Hope this helps---Thomas
