If you are clicking the left-click mouse button (Or, even the right-click mouse button), and it counts as two quick clicks, try these steps. 1) Be sure you are not clicking any other mouse buttons. For example, if you are hitting the scroll wheel (If using a desktop-type mouse, rather than a laptop built-in mouse), that sometimes counts as a left-click; the result in hitting the 'left-click' button twice without the user noticing it. 2) Can you recall any settings you have changed recently that may have made this happen? Go into mouse options through your control panel and check for any options that you've configured recently. 3) If all else fails, check the manufacturer's website for help or consult the manual for the mouse.

I had encountered the same problem a few days ago and after a lot of research, I found a solution. it worked for me, i have a Vista... it will very likely work on other systems too but i cannot guarantee it... here we go:

1. start -> Run

2. Type in ' regedit.exe ' and press OK... the registry editor will open.

3. now on the left side menu expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder.

4. now expand the subfolder "control panel"

5. now double-click on the mouse folder... now on the right side of the window list should appear.

6. in that list, double-click on the menu that says "DoubleClickHeight"... it will ask you for a value. change it to 300.

7. press okay.

8. you can close the Registry Editor now.

This should pretty much solve the problem. if it doesn't, I am sorry.... but it won't harm your computer.

Why does your mouse double click?

First of all, you are the one who double clicks your mouse. If you are talking about why the mouse makes two clicking sounds when you click it once, that is because it makes one click sound when you depress the mouse button, and it makes another when you lift it up again.

Why does my mouse pad left click and right click at the same time How can I fix it without buying a new mouse?

Reasons for double clicking could be multiple and without additional info I'm not trying my luck at analyzing the cause. If you're satisfied with disabling one of the clicks or moving them onto other buttons (including keyboard) you might try a tool to globally disable/rebind one of the clicks. Like AHK. AutoHotkey. Google it.

What is the difference between a single mouse click and a double mouse click?

A single click on an Apple Macintosh computer consists of one up and down motion on a mouse. A double-click would consist of two consecutive single clicks with no or very little time between the clicks. (It is important to note that the speed of the "double-click" can be adjusted as long as a mouse is connected to the computer.) Also, usually, a single click selects an object or icon. A double-click usually opens or launches an application or document. (This is the case when your computer is in the "Finder." You can tell you are in the "Finder" when you see the word next to the Apple icon in top left corner of your monitor/screen.) All this can become confusing due to some "directions" telling the user to "click and hold." The "click and hold" means to move the mouse arrow over the object, click down on the mouse but do not finish "clicking" by letting go for the up motion of a full click, it is essentially a "half-click." This action usually causes the mouse arrow to "grab" or "hold" the object or icon.
