Look behind the break petal, and there is a little switch that the break petal hits. You need to take that part to the parts house. Get a new one. Hook it back up the same way. Now start your car and see if it will shift. That is the problem most of th time. If all else fails you can take off the shifter cover. Then bend the bar that keep the shifter from shiffing. This is a temporary fix, because the shifter will not lock This can cause damage if driving and the auto is knock into park, reverse, ect.
There should be a button on the panel in front of shifter (1995 LX)
automatic or manual?
There is a small button on the shifter knob just below the large button that you press to change shifter positons.
On my 1995 it is a button located within the center console armrest. The trunk release button is next to it.
disconnect the battery and wait 30 minutes. that should do it and that's all
Thunderbird - train - was created in 1995.
Where are the vacuum hoses on a 1995 ford thunderbird 4.6l engine?
A 1995 Ford Thunderbird is OBD I , EEC IV
The shifter button is a rod with an angle on it and returned by a spring. Normally when this happens the rod inside the shifter handle has worn out or broken. If it has a round knob w/ button in center, the shaft is froze or rusted. Either case the knob has to be removed. I think there is a solonoid in thr shifter base , when the brake pedal pushes it unlocks the shifter. Try good luck, something connects to the shifter Cavaliers have cables. You must have power , battery power!!!
For a 1995 Ford Thunderbird , 4.6 : I believe that is rated at ( 205 horsepower from the factory )
