Retrieve the contents by using a can opener on the bottom of the can, but only a small amount will come out at a time so transfer it to another spray bottle (preferably plastic) or you will be able to splash it where you need if it is something like a pet repellant. I had this problem today with a pet repellant spray can and then I did the can opener method and splashed it around on the furniture to keep pets off of unwanted areas including bedrooms and bathrooms to prevent them from doing their business in those places and from leaving hair everywhere! :-)

This answer is completely idiotic. You should never puncture an aerosol can empty or full. What if the dip tube or nozzle was blocked. The can is still under pressure and all the contents would spray out continuously. If the can used a flammable propellant you would have another problem especially if there was a naked flame or ignition source around. Read the instructions on the can.
