We have been working on the headlights on my 1997 Cadillac Catera for about 3 weeks. They have not been right for about a year and we finally decided to take them apart and fix them. Bad idea! Even repalcing them has become a nightmare, as we can not find used ones that do not have broken adjusters, so we decided on JB Weld.....the assembly crumbled! If it is in your budget, it may save you weeks of headaches to just go to Cadillac .com and order new ones, but be prepared to pay up to five hundred for a set. The Cadillac Corp. has, in the past, been very helpful in trouble shooting. I love my Catera, but am not happy about this headlight problem. I wish you luck! The oil pressure light is on due to the fact that there is no pressure from the oil, fill it up, and if that does not fix it, check for faulty wiring. P.S. There is no such thing as "Blinker Fluid."
how to fix 01 montero limited sunroof won't close?
Most likely it is coming from the freeze plug. This is usually no easy task to fix depending on the make and model of car. On certain vehicles you need to remove the engine to get to the freeze plug. I am not familiar with your particular car.
i have a 97 Catera and it stalls in either drive or reverse. idles fine for 30 minutes but shuts off almost instantly. replaced CPS and tightened all grounds. No change. but sometimes it will drive beautifully... an answer would be great. next step for me is to fix the valve cover leaks and check all connections and hoses. any help?
it's your 'maf' = mass air flow sensor. easy to fix, pretty cheap at about $150 from rockauto.com or a good online source. do NOT buy from the caddy dealer! go to cadillacforums.com and either peruse or better yet, join the catera/cimarron group for some real in-depth answers to ALL things catera. trust me.
Replace it
The problem is in the controler. TAke it to the dealer. The problem is likely one of the 5 actuators under the dash. There is one for the passenger and one for the drivers side. When you move the temp setting, you should hear them moving. If not, one may need adjusting or replacing.
go to the mechanic
