Most times they are unfixable as it will be damaged through just wear and tear.
If you would still like to fix it. You will need to firstly open the controller with a special screw tool. After opened, you will need to buy new bumps or a new main system board.
Return it and trade it for a working one.

Nothing much. Instead of the black and white buttons on the Xbox controller the Xbox 360 controller has RB (right bumper) and LB (left bumper). And the Xbox 360 controller is way more comfortable
There are 2 L buttons on the Xbox 360 controller. The LB buttons is located at the top left of the controller and the LT button is located at the back of the controller. Just to sum it up, these are not buttons, these are triggers.
Have you tried holding the synchronizing connection buttons? Further explanation: First find the synchronize button on the Xbox 360 controller, it is next it's power port. (top of controller between the LB and RB buttons) Should have a ))) symbol next to it. Now find the synchronize button on the Xbox 360 console. It should be either underneath or to the left of the disk tray. (depending of how you position your Xbox 360) And it should be found to the right or underneath the Memory Unit B port. (again, depending on how you Xbox 360 is positioned) Now turn on your Xbox 360 controller and your console. Hold BOTH synchronizing buttons until the the power lights on both the console and controller, flash/spin at the same time. If your controller persists to flash (after being connected) then it is out of batteries/charge.
lb and rb if you look at your controller
If the controller is wireless then you have to hold the sync button on the top of the controller in between the RB and LB buttons. The sync button has three curves right next to it. When you hold the sync button you also have to press the sync button on the 360 that's right next to the two memory card slots.
Lb & rb
L1 usually refers to the left trigger where your index finger rests while holding a controller. The LB is the bumper which is the button directly above each trigger.

Find codes online, off a site like Gamesradar.com. Then just imput the code! Remember: If you're playing with a Xbox 360 controller, LB=White button, RB=Black Button.
The Bumpers are located on top of the controller, just in front of the triggers. The left and right bumpers are marked "LB" and "RB" respectively.
