To format your 3DS' system memory, open the settings app, then under Other Settings on the fourth page, select "format system memory."
This will delete all data on the system. All data deleted will be unrecoverable.

The original DS and DS Lite cannot take a memory card at all. The DSi takes SD memory cards.
The current largest capacity memory card available for the DS is a 16GB SD.
The Nintendo DS doesn't actually require memory cards for game saving, the memory needed to save games is built into the game cartridges themselves.
no , only if you have an R4 for your Nintendo DS a R4 is a memory card that holds games , music , and other things from your computer
Well, that depends. Most memory cards are 4 GB (for about $10 on Dealextreme.com) and can hold about 60-80 moderate-sized games. For $16 though, (on Dealextreme.com) you can get an 8GB memory card which can hold about 180-200 DS games.(I recommend it). But in order to use those DS games, you have to buy an R4 ($8.00 from Dealextreme.com) to transform the data from your computer into a data form that can be read by the DS. (By the way, I have an R4, and they are AMAZING!) ---This answer is courtesy of--- MegaChunkeyMonkey
The memory card is built into the machine.
It is impossible to do the following. They design the memory card to have just enough data. So you would have to work at a memory card factory to make it have more data that can be downloaded.
