There are several ways you can do this including:

  1. Check the ads in the local paper and the cards in store windows.
  2. Print up resumes giving your name, contact details and any experience and drop them in local restaurants and stores.
  3. Make sure everybody knows you're looking for work. Most teens get their first job through a friend or family member.
  4. Offer to do a week's unpaid work in a local business to get experience and a reference.
  5. Go to a store and ask if there are any openings. If there are, you can fill out a job application on the spot.
  6. Looking in magazines/job centres/newspapers/online (<----- be careful with online vacancies)
  7. Ask family and friends to listen out for suitable vacancies.
  8. Advertise in shops (do not give any personal contact information unless absolutely necessary, and if you do, TELL A PARENT OR GUARDIAN)
  9. Visit your nearest Connexions centre or the Connxeions centre if you are between 13-19 years old.
  10. Help around the house (chores)
  11. Ask friends parents if you can do anything for them or relatives
  12. Knock on doors (be careful and take an adult with you) or post leaflets (make sure you have a license if required)
