Ok so im sorry to say but you can't get growlithe in leafgreen only in firered you can get vulpix in leafgreen and growlithe in firered both evolve with fire stones which you can purchase at celadon city.

you find them on route 11 i think but im pretty sure you do
:)
You can also find them on Route 8.
Routes 7 and 8 (east and west of saffron). And also in Pokemon tower in cinnebar
