For Non-Combat Pets: Currently there is no way to delete a pet once it has been learned. You might want to contact a GM (Gamemaster) using the in-game ticket system and ask them if they can remove it.
For Hunter Combat Pets: Get your pet out of the pet stable if it is there. Call for it so it is present with you. Click on your pet so that its icon/health bar is next to yours at top of screen. Right click on your pet statistics and locate 'abandon', and click on it. You must confirm that your are abandoning your pet as it will never be in your inventory ever again.
Assuming you are a Hunter, the best way to permanently get rid of a pet is to Call it (so it is running with you) and then right-click its portrait. If you choose the option "Abandon", the pet will disappear, never to return.
If you just want to get rid of a pet for a short while, for instance to tame another pet, you can go to a stable master and put the pet in storage.
----
On the other hand, if you want to get rid of a non-combatant companion pet that you have already learned....it is impossible. You can try asking a GM to remove it but do not be surprised when they say no.
