Run a search for image files (Start, Search, Files or Folders, Pictures, Music or Video).
Click on each file that turns up in the search, check the contents, then delete all or some as required. (There will be a lot of them.)
That's to free up space.
If you want secure deletion, the only safe way is to use an electronic shredder to overwrite the hard drive with several layers of random digital data. This will make it difficult (but perhaps not totally impossible) to retrieve anything that was on the drive. It will also require that you re-install the operating system and anything else that was on the drive. We're talking nuking the hard drive, here.
The reason such a draconian step is needed is that deleting a file does not remove it. It just allows the computer to utilize that space if it is needed. Even if your data is overwritten, a forensic examiner can often recover data from underneath the overwrite. Also, your computer hides copies and temporary files all over the place. The only safe way to get them all is to shred that drive (multiple overwrites).
If you decide to go that route, plan on it taking several days if you have a big drive, as the entire thing will need to be overwritten at least seven times, and preferably more. Another route is to remove the drive, smash it throughly with a hammer, then throw it in a fire for a couple of hours. That will render the data absolutely un-recoverable. In the long run, that's probably a better route, because you'll end up with a brand-new drive in your machine.
