* with nail varnish remover * We used rubbing alcohol to get it out of our daughter's hair (and clothes) * We used no rinse hand sanitizer and a comb with great results * Sometimes I just cut it out == == == == * Sometimes, putting and ice cube on it, and combing through with a wide toothed comb works well. * I found that running warm water (shower) over putty for a wile, keep combing and then all of a sudden it goes really soft. Then just comb out, wash hair with shampoo and towel dry. * Baby oil works like a charm. Just put it on a cloth and wipe at it. I had it out in a matter of minutes and then we just washed his hair.

If the fabric is small enough example clothes or a toy, put it in a freezer overnight, then the putty will be easier to just rip off with out being gooey, or sticking to the fabric. If it is on something like a couch or carpet, then I'm not sure what to do. :(

You could try freezing the area with ice and then chipping away the Silly Putty. However, it's my experience that once it's set in clothes and carpet, it's pretty much permanent.
