How do you get a chaos emerald in sonic heroes?

in each act of each stage, there is a warp module that has a star on it and two handles. To activate it: 1. jump on it(sonic will grab a handle) 2. hold down y to use super boost to spin the module(HOLD IT DOWN that's important) you need to have your tension bar to a certain point, which is about a bar and a half full 3. if you spin the module long enough, you enter a bonus stage. 4. collect enough rings and get a chaos emerald!
there are special zones in each level, beat them all and you have all the chaos emeralds

You have to have the key at the end of the level. This only works on the even level stages. The odd level stages take you to a bonus level, giving u extra lives and such. After you get the key and enter the "bonus realm," simply catch up to the emerald before it gets to the end.

I highly recommend Team Rose. Team Sonic and Dark are fast, but they aren't good choices since their levels are longer and more difficult than Team Roses levels. I've gotten 4 emeralds using them and the Special Stages are not hard when you think about it. Just take you're time, but don't speed by so fast. You gotta watch for the mines. So again, I recommend Team Rose. Fast, easy, no problem. But if you are able to easily get and maintain the key and then finish the level as Team Sonic or Dark, BY ALL MEANS DO IT,

Go to an even numbered level (2,4,6,etc.) Find a key( they are hidden in cages. Break them with the power character.) Finish the level to enter the emerald stage.
