To get the mode, meaning the most common value in a list of values, then you use the MODE function. So if you were finding the mode of cells in the range from B2 to E25, then the formula would be:
=MODE(B2:E25)
The MODE function returns the number that is most common in a range of numbers. If no single number appears more than any other number then it will return #N/A in the cell. It is a statistical function, one of the set of average functions. See the related question below.
The MODE function.
In Excel you can calculate the mode from the set of values by using the MODE function. If you wanted the mode from the range of cells from A2 to D50, then it would be:=MODE(A2:D50)
The MODE function finds the most commonly occurring number in a range of numbers.
The F9 key.
Status Bar
The Average function in Excel totals a range of cells and divides the total by the amount of values in those cells. In mathematics this is known as the Arithmetic Mean.
The status bar shows the current mode of Excel.
The MODE function retrieves the most commonly occurring value in a set. To get the mode of the values in cell A2 to A30 you would have: =MODE(A2:A30)
To disable extended selection mode in Excel 2007 you just need to press f4 function key once. <a href="http://www.sanangelolive.com">san angelo</a>
The Status Bar is the area at the bottom of the Excel screen that shows the Zoom level, the viewing mode, and the current mode.
There is no step function in Excel. However, you can use excel to create a Step Function Chart. See related links for a video to explain the process.
