How did it get in there,is there a mechanical problem that's causing water to get in,if not then drain fluid by removing drain plug under transmission,then run a few qts. in and drain,then screw plug back in and fill back up thru dip stick opening.
Generally water or coolant gets in if the radiator part the tranny fluid runs through corrodes or breaks. It can happen when cooler lines are removed so you need to be careful when putting pressure on these areas. Don't try and remove cooler lines when the engine is hot because the washers are in an expanded state and they are hard to budge. Wait till the engine is cold.
If water is already in your transmission chances are it's screwed and even after flushing will begin to slip. I flushed mine immediately and Three times - but I am having a problem with over revving and a loss of power at 80km/hr and I have to drop back and engage gear at 60km/hr- the car seriously won't go any faster. The fluid still looks contaminated ( slightly brown too which I think is the ground up Gasket material... and I have changed another 8 litres of ATF. I can hear a loud squeak and resistance from 2nd to 3rd also. My transmission gasket has fallen into the transmission filter and is coming out in pieces. I am uncertain if replacing this part will alleviate my other slipping problems...
