You use a wing clipper and clip only the long feathers so it can still fly, but not get very far without stopping. Or better yet, don't risk harming your budgie and just be very careful with opening doors and such. I have a budgie and we don't clip her wings, she can fly well, and after a year of living with us, she knows where to go and where not go, just because we care for her well and give her lots of petting and loving time.

It s smart to look for some ruffled feathers or a wing bent at a strange angle. It is also good to look at the bird when it tries to fly or if it tries to fly at all. However, the safest way is probably to take it to a vet or similar.

It is best to hold the bird carefully but firmly with a gloved hand or wrap it securely in a light cloth. This is to protect your fingers from being nipped.

Carefully extend just one wing fully. On the end are about four flight feathers. Simply get a sharp pair of scissors and clip off the ends of the feathers above the "quick", where there is bloodflow. You do not want to cut the bird's wing, just the feathers. Get someone who knows what they're doing to show you how to clip the ends without accidentally drawing blood.

Do not clip both wings. This will balance up the wings so the bird can still fly. Do not clip all the feathers - just the flight feathers on the end.

This process will need to be done every few weeks, as the flight feathers will grow back.

Now that you mention it, I find this question rather shallow and pedantic.

Take it to the vet, you shouldn't try to fix it yourself as you could make it worse.

You don't. Take it to an avian veterinarian. Trying to fix it yourself can lead to worse complications.

Yes, you can fix your parakeet if you wanted to but, not many people do it because it is a bird!

you could take it to the vet or you could feed the parakeet his food and try to take care of the parakeet if no signs show in about a week that he is doing well consult a vet right away

How can you tell how old is my parkeet?

You can tell that your parakeet is old by looking at the rings on it's head. If there are a lot of black rings that go around it's head, it is younger. If your parakeet has little rings unlike this one, it's older. This parakeet has almost a white head which means it is older.
