Right under the chin of the car, find the black plastic door. There are two twist locks to open it. Once inside, use a nutdriver to pull out the single screw. The whole housing assembly will slide back and down. It may be a tight fit, but it does come apart if you tug on it. Once you have that out, you will see the clips hold the scraps of the old lens. Pry these off, and clip the new lens into place. Then just reverse steps to re-install.

I OWN A 2003 CLK 320 CONVERTIBLE, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE PLACED ON A LIFT AND LIFTED UP IN THE AIR SO THAT THE FRONT VALANCE COULD BE REACHED UNDER TO REPLACE THE BURNED OUT BULBS FOR THE FOG LAMPS. THE REASEON , THE VEHICLE SITS VERY LOW TO THE GROUND AND NOT MUCH CLEARANCE. GOOD LUCK.

Depending on which model of car you have...there are two possible headlamps. A sealed unit, or an H4 bulb replacement. Both are replaced through the back of the light unit, accessible from inside the engine compartment. There's a plastic cover behind the headlights...and it might look confusing, but its easier than you think. Always replace both headlamps at the same time...if one goes, the other is not far behind. Plus, new headlamps are brighter than older ones. You might want to also see if the brighter, whiter bulbs are available for your car...I use them, and they work 2x's better than standard bulbs, and it will make your car look newer too...fresher looking. A pair of these can run around $25.00 a pair, and they're worth it. Your local parts store guy should be able to help you out with this. This goes for both '97 and '94 cars.

Headlights are installed on a 1997 Mercedes E320 by removing the attached wiring harness and twisting the old bulbs. They can then be pulled out and new headlight bulbs installed.

To replace a headlight bulb, you will first need to remove the cover and existing bulb. Check your owners manual for instructions on how to do this.
