How do you install a thermostat on a 1996 Geo Tracker?

HI, I'l give it to you by the book. Drain the coolant so it's below the level of tyher thermostat. If you need to, you can remove the top radiator hose from the thermostat housing, of course check the hose and if it's mushy, then change it too, now is also a good time to check the lower radiator hose and if it's mushy then drain the coolant all the way and change it too better now than later. Remove the thermostat housing bolts then lift the housing off of the intake manifold. Remove and discard the old gasket. grasp the thermostat and lift it out of the intake manifold. Thoroughly clean both mating surfaces of the thermostat and intake manifold so there is nothing on the surfaces at all. Put the thermostat in with the spring side down. Put a new gasket on the thermostatthen put the thermostat housing back on, install the bolts and tighten evenly. Put the hose back on if needed. Then refill with new coolant. Start the engine and check for leaks and insure the proper amount of coolant has been added. There is one thing to think about, why not think about having it done and flush the cooling system at the same time, it's just a thought.
