Raise vehilce safely. Spray penetrant on nuts and bolts. Take a large vice grip and clamp on the the upper part of the old shock rod from under the fender well. Loosen nut on top and then break loose bottom bolts, The only ones that USUALLY give you a problem is the top nut cause it wants to spin the entire shock; that is the reason for the vice grip.Use 1/2" drive tools on this job.

The 1500 Chevy Silverado has two knock sensors. There is one on each side of the block halfway between front and back.
Your main problem is likely a wheel that is out of balance. A secondary problem is worn out shocks. Have the front wheels professionally balanced and see if the problem goes away. If not completely gone, replace your front shocks.

You first need to jack up the front you are working on from the lower ball joint. Then you only need to unscrew the top mount nut and remove the 2 lower mounting bolt and slide the shock out the bottom of the lower control arm. Reverse the procedure to install the new shock. Repeat the steps on the other front corner.

A standard shock for a Chevy is a little tricky without a special socket for the top. Without this socket you must use vise grips to hold the top while spinning the nut loose. Remove the two at the bottom first which are standard bolts.
