This is what saved my car and my money (that I didn't have!). Here is a write-up on how to do it all yourself. It will bypass the VATS system entirely, you will not hear about it anymore and it will not own your car anymore!

how to bypass vats on 95 camaro
Yes,you can buy a VATS bypass module for $30 == ==
Disabling the VATS system is not the right answer. Bypassing the VATS system on a '89 Pontiac Trams Am requires grounding the crank/start wire on the VATS box (located behind the dash, behind the console) and purchasing a bypass module, which is used in order to allow the fuel injectors to operate. Baker Electronix offers a DFVATS module for this purpose.

If you know the value of the resistor you can cut the wires going to the lock cylinder and solder in a resistor of the correct value.
VATS is usually a GM (General Motors), system for helping prevent vehicle thefts. There are several different procedures depending upon the year and make of the vehicle. Search the internet for "VATS Bypass". I bypassed the vats on a 1996 Buick by accessing the wiring diagram for the VATS. I measured the resistance of the key chip. There are 15 different values it can be. It is simply a resistor. In this case, the chip measured 3000 ohms. I went to Radio shack and got a combination of resistors that would give me 3000 ohms. There are 2 wires that come out of the VAT module and go up the steering column to the key switch. I located the VAT module behind the glove box. I cut those two wires and soldered the resistors in so that the module always saw 3000 ohms. You have to solder the resistor on the module side, not the key side.
just google gm vats bypass kit
First of all YOU DONT. second of all are you trying to steal it lol try corvette fever magazine they sell all bypass modules from vats to trans 1 to 4 skip module try corvettefever.com
VATS is programmed into the ECU. There is no individual module. It can be bypassed relatively easily or your computer can be sent off and the VATS system can be deleted out of the programming.
