A Carson City one dollar coin can be identified by its mint mark, which features a "CC" stamped on the reverse side of the coin, indicating it was minted in Carson City, Nevada. These coins were produced during specific years in the late 19th century and are typically silver, making them distinct from modern dollar coins. Additionally, the design often includes imagery associated with the era, such as the Liberty design or the Seated Liberty motif. Checking for these characteristics can help confirm its authenticity.
Look on the reverse and then look above the DO in dollar. If you see the two letters CC you have a silver dollar from the Carson City mint. This was the mintmark that the Carson City mint used.
do you know how much money a silver 1872 dollar coin is and a 1922 silver dollar coin
I know NYC has a few jewelers and coin dealers, try one of them.
In order to give an estimated value for a coin, it is necessary to know the denomination of the coin. [For example: one dollar, half dollar, quarter dollar etc.]
I'm not sure who Susan B Anderson is, and she is not on the dollar coin?Susan B. Anthony is on the dollar coin, and if you want to know who she is, you can google her yourself.SincerelyA Friendly Canadian
August 11, 2009 Generally, drilling a hole in a coin lowers its value considerably. If your coin was minted in Philadelphia or San Francisco, then it is probably not worth too much more than gold value which is $114.32 today. If it was minted in Carson City then it probably has a little more value since these were minted in lower quantities.
I'm not certain which coin you are wanting to know about. In 1889 there were no coins to my knowledge called "liberty dollar". However, there was a gold dollar minted that year which was minted in Philadelphia and therefore carries no mint mark. None were minted anywhere else. Also in 1889 there was a silver dollar minted called "Morgan Dollar" . The mint mark on this one is located below the wreath on the reverse side of the coin. These were minted in Carson City, Nevada and carried a "CC" mint mark: New Orleans, Louisiana and carried an "O" mint mark: San Francisco, California and carried an "S" mint mark: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and carried no mint mark at all.
Since I don't know what kind of dollar coin you are referring to, all I can suggest is you perform the following steps : 1) Identify your coin here : 2) Estimate the grade of your coin here : 3) Look up the approximate retail value of your coin.
Is it a quarter half or dollar? Sorry looked at this question again. If you mean a dollar coin still need to know if its a Morgan or Peace dollar.
If you have a 20 dollar gold coin, it is worth a lot, at least $1500. You need to know what year the coin is from.
The coin is called a SACAGAWEA dollar and has no gold in it. If you know it's a 2000 coin, why don't you think it has no date?
There are two things that you need to know about your coin to determine value. The first thing to look at is the mintmark, on a Morgan Dollar, it is above the D and O on the reverse of the coin under the wreath. It will either have a CC, O or S or perhaps even no mintmark. If it has a CC mintmark, it was minted in Carson City and worth more than average. If there is a O it was minted in New Orleans, an S means it was minted in San Fransisco and no mintmark means the coin was made in Philadelphia. Once you know that, you need to know the condition. Do not clean your coin cleaning your coin will only make your coin lose value. Coins in better condition sell for a lot more than barely recognizable coins which might only sell for their silver content. Without knowing those two things, it is impossible to tell you how much your coin is worth.
