How do you know if the fuel pump is bad on 2005 Chevy trailblazer?

when you turn the key, before trying to start it, there should be a buzzing sound coming from under the SUV. Its the fuel pump priming up. If you have not tried changing your fuel filter, I would try to do that first. It is a lot cheaper to change the fuel filter than it is to pay someone to drop your gastank and change a $200-300 pump.

It was in front of the fuel tank up to 2004. On Later models it was placed inside the tank. I know, that sucks!
