How do you know if you need air conditioner refrigerant in your home?
If your air conditioner blows air but it's not cold air then you probably need freon in your air conditioner
You will need a set of refrigerant gauges, a tank of refrigerant and a refrigerant scale. You will also know technical knowledge of superheat and subcool and be EPA certified.
The need to take off the refrigerant.
The only way to know if Freon (refrigerant) is needed in an air conditioner is to use tools and gauges to measure the performance of the system. The amount of refrigerant needed is based on the design of the entire system including the size of the unit, length and size of the refrigerant lines, temperatures, and type of refrigerant. Refrigerant is not consumed. If refrigerant is needed then the system was either not charged correctly… Read More
An Air Conditioner needs the Type of "Refrigerant" that is stated on the (Identi-Plate) usually located near the condenser.
The amount of refrigerant required for an air conditioner is always on a sticker on the unit or nearby.
through the larger suction line at the condenser. you face several problems with that. 1. You must know what type of refrigerant to use 2. you must know the sub-cooling/Superheat of that particular unit at that temperature. 3. You must be able to purchase the aformentioned refrigerant. 4. Connecting to the cooling system you will need the proper guages/hoses. The HVAC system on your home is a hermetically sealed system... it should NEVER LEAK. if… Read More
It usually means that the air conditioner has low refrigerant. You need to get the compressor recharged - but beware - if the unit IS low on refrigerant, then you might have a leak in the cooling system.
Either you badly need a refrigerant recharge, or your AC compressor is shot. Or both.
Visit Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts and tell them that you need a thing to recharge your air conditioner, they will understand what you need and show where to find what you are looking for. wherever you buy refrigerant you should be able to buy a can of refrigerant that comes with the charging hose included. most are reusable, just unscrew it from one can and screw it on the new one.
Never, unless you suspect of not cooling then there is a leak somewhere. A repair will need to be performed before recharging.
what size of central air conditioner do i need for a 950 sq ft house
What wire do you need to use to hook up air conditioner ? Does it need to be 10/2 with ground? How do I connect this. Thanks!!
Make sure it's draining properly. Condensate, if it is allowed to remain stagnant, builds up an odor. If you have built up mould in the evaporation coil, you may need to have it professionally cleaned. Freon has no odor.
I have the same problem. Refrigerant is low due to a small leak in the system. They came out and added refrigerant to my system and it worked fine. Now after a long power outage (hurricane IKE) I am having the same problem. It appears I have a small leak in my system and need more refrigerant installed!
To clean the home air conditioner, you need to change the filter on a monthly basis.
To make vehicles, businesses and home more comfortable................
If you'll pick up a Haynes or Chilton manual for your car, you will find everything you need to know about service and maintenance. Haynes is very clear about the need to have a certified AC technician do anything involving purging the refrigerant. This must be done prior to replacing the compressor. FriPilot
The low pressure refrigerant port is near the firewall, just after the receiver/dryer. You'll need a gauge and preferrably an ac test manifold. You can use the manifold to add refrigerant up to the point where the system maintains the pressure level in the green area.
to many causes.will need hvac tech to diagnose.really.
Need to know what your question is. Re-post with your question.
The type of refrigerant that an E 34 needs is R12 refrigerant. It is absolutely necessary that you do not put any other type of refrigerant into a R12.
Your home air conditions makes gargling sounds because there is air that is trapped in the line. It means that you will need to have refrigerant added.
Need to know what its doing or not doing so that I can better assist you.............
This depends on the climate of where you live. Here in Texas I need about a 4 ton system.
here in California you would need a 2 ton in other parts you would need less
Never, an air conditioner is a closed system. If you need to add refrigerant you have a leak that needs to be repaired. In theory you should never have to add freon. but there can be some residual loss. maybe after five to ten years.
Yes a heat pump reverses the function of an air conditioner. Like any refrigerant system if a Technician says "it needs Freon", make sure the leak is repaired first.
my air conditionel is blowing hot air what i need to do how i put air in my home window conditional
Well, we'd need to know what make, year, and model of car before that question can be answered. Not all automotive AC systems require the same amount of refrigerant.
There is a misconception that all refrigerants are freon. The EPA has band use of freon R12 in the USA. It is no longer produced stateside. The only refrigerant that is acceptable for automotive use is R134A. If you are to attempt to service your air conditioner you will need to know the exact amount needed. It is very critical on cars.
1.88 lbs (0.85 kg) of R-134A refrigerant.....
It means that you have a refrigerant leak, and will eventually lose all of your refrigerant. Then your AC won't offer any sufficient cooling, and if you run your AC with an inadequate amount of refrigerant, you'll eventually destroy your AC system. So it means that, if you don't want this to happen, you need to get the leak located and fixed. The presence of air in the AC system indicates a likelihood of a… Read More

Depends upon climate where you live and r factor. Go to home depot in your area they can help size for you.
Old units used R12 or R22. New units use R134a. You shouldn't need to buy any refrigerant (not "refridgerant") for a window air conditioner, as these units are hermetically sealed at the factory, just like refrigerators and freezers, and typically won't lose gas for their entire service life. If it is no longer cooling properly, the coils may be dirty and in need of cleaning, the condenser fan may have failed, or some other component… Read More
This is not a Do-It-Yourself job. Because refrigerant is very dangerous to handle - you could suffocate yourself or someone else in the room - you need to have the right tools and test equipment and must have been trained so that you know what you are doing. Any air conditioning unit that has developed a fault must be thoroughly checked by an expert to ensure that a) it is running safely and b) there… Read More
This is most definitely not a DIY task. To do it properly, you need to first test the purity of the refrigerant, which takes special equipment to do, as does actual recovery and storage of the refrigerant.
It's illegal to vent the refrigerant into the atmosphere. To do it legally, you need a refrigerant recycling machine
Freon (R-12) is way too expensive as it is no longer in production. Have it converted to use R-134a. I suggest a visit to a professional A/C shop as the fact that you need to add refrigerant indicates you have a leak that needs repairing. It is illegal to add refrigerant to a system with a leak without first repairing the leak.
If older then 95, it runs r12 refrigerant, and you need to have a pro use a recapture machine for the newer formula conversion. If 95 or newer, simply remove the low pressure line cap, plug on your 134 refrigerant w oil can, and fill with vehicle running and AC on. Do not over fill, most these DIY kits have a gauge, so keep it in the green.

Not much info to go with. Need to know if the blower motor operates or not.
it all depends on how large of an air conditioner you need.
Call a reputable service company with the proper equipment to find, fix and evacuate it. Even if you do this yourself, you cannot purchase the refrigerant to recharge it so you will need them anyway and you`ll get a warranty on the repair.
Why is the air conditioning on your 1998 Mercedes 320E Wagon not very cold and the fan not very powerful even on highest setting?
You may need to add refrigerant to your air conditioner unit to get the air cold. There could be a problem with your electrical system that affects your fan.
ALL CARS MADE AFTER 1994 HAVE R-134A REFRIGERANT YOUR CAR USES THIS KIND AND IF YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW MUCH THERE IS A STICKER UNDER THE HOOD THAT TELLS YOU HOW MANY LBS OR OUNCES IT TAKES
If the refrigerant has leaked out, then you can not do a home repair. you need to replace all the pipework and get someone to come in and re pressurise the system. This is a job for a professional.
Depends on the size of the unit and when it was built. Modern A/C units contain no Freon (R12). It was banned in 1996. Call a home A/C professional.
Never. A properly operating AC unit will have no leaks, thus never need recharging.
