If you think your pet is dead but are unsure, you should:

* call your vet

* check for a response, call their name and talk to them

* check for pulse

* check for breathing

* check their skin temperature (may be cold to touch)

I suppose the most obvious answer is that no babies arrive after her due date.

Another key factor is that she looses interest in nest building or any of the behaviour she picked up whilst pregnant, but that is not often the case as even does with no babies inside of them may still feel like they have them, and continue building her nest etc.

Always think: What could have scared her into aborting them? Was there a point when she was very scared? Was she disturbed in her natural behaviour enough to abort her pregnancy? etc etc

Unless you want to take her to the vet (which can get very expensive), you can wait for 45 days because the rabbit gestational period last 32-34 days. Make sure you put a nest box in her cage and keep her in a calm, quiet place or it could jeopardize the lives of both her and her kits.

It should be easy to tell if a rabbit has died. They will no longer move or breathe.

A rabbit is dead is it won't move, eat, or drink, and is not breathing. If it has been dead long enough, it may fell colder than a live rabibit would.
