I believe you are asking about a BB rifle made by Daisy for Sears, the model number is 799 9045. If this is it, then it's a Daisy model 25. To load the BB gun you have to unscrew the very end of the barrel. pull it out you will see a spring inside a long tube. Pull it back and load the tube with BB's let the spring go back down and push the BB together Now carefully screw the tube back into place and cock the forearm back and forth. You are ready to fire.
The JC Higgins Model 20 was a slide-action shotgun, not a pistol. Is that the gun you have? sales@countrygunsmith.net
Answer Slide action BB gunHI. In the late 50's I had a slide action BB gun that was made by Daisy. Hope this helps. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The model 126.102940 was made by Crosman air gun for Sears under the JC Higgins brand name. It actually is a Crosman model V350 made between 1961-1969. It's a push barrel BB rifle.(See the link below for the owners manual)
First remove the screw opposite the bolt. Operate the bolt as if you were cocking the gun, pull the trigger and it will slide out.
The model 288 is a 24 shot BB gun that is loaded from the right side. There is a slide cover directly above the trigger that you slide forward to load the BB's
You will need to identify the manufacturer of the gun since JC Higgins was a Sears brand for guns they sold.
Sears put Ted's name on a lot of different 22 rifles. Go to Dick's or Walmart and price a similar (automatic, slide action, bolt action) utility gun. Your used J.C. Higgins will be worth from 1/2 to 2/3 as much as the new one, depending on condition.
Check that gun is unloaded. Remove screw on the LEFT side of action near the bolt. Open bolt, release safety, press and hold trigger, slide bolt out.
Would need to know exactly how the gun is marked.
Gun Parts Corp has correct Higgins buttplates, but they would have to be fitted to the stock.
$75 - $125.
You can dry fire a "REPLICA" gun if the action will allow. Some "REPLICA" guns will not have a true action and therefore cannot be fired. NEVER try to load live ammunition in a "REPLICA" gun.
Between $30 - $45
