On my 1992 190E I can lock the trunk with any of the keyed locks. If you lock the doors, the trunk locks and if you lock the trunk, the doors lock. In other words all the keyed locks are electrically interconnected. In reality the locks are not electrically interconnected. There is a pump in the right side wheel well of the trunk, it uses vacuum to lock all the locks and pressure to unlock them. Although the pump is powered electrically, the locks are not.
make sure the trunk is unlocked - then just push on the forward end of the cover door and it should tilt open. The trunk lock will also lock the fuel door.
The fuel tank lock is tied into the vacuum door lock system. When the doors are unlocked then so should the trunk and gas cap. The door lock can be released from inside the trunk.
There is no such thing as a 1998 190E, BTW - It was replaced by the C-class in 1993... On my Mercedes (1984) there is no cap lock, when you lock or unlock the doors, the gas latch (door) is locked or unlocked automatically.
drill the lock and push in, lift open the trunk door
doors locks & trunk lock not working
press the key lock in with your thumb and you will hear a click. You should be able to close your trunk.
With the key inserted into the lock.
Put your Key in the lock and turn it counterclockwise,,,, Push the button and voila.... the trunk lid opens.....
Insert the key, turn it all the way to the left, push the lock in and open the lid. Do the opposite to lock it.
Put the key in the #2 position and put it in neutral, there is a safety in the rear wheels if you don't have the key in the #2 position that will lock the brakes. I had the same problem.
how do i replace a trunk lock with another lock that has a key
Check to see if it opens any other door or trunk is it does then that lock may be bad. there may be something stuck or have some kind of debree in there. if none work it may be that key may not be original to the car, meaning that somewhere along the cars life the ignition lock has been replaced. you can get a key by the dealers using your VIN number. it is only a $20 experament
